New District Volunteers
Bill Derrick, RW District
Chair, has some great news! He has recruited two new people to
help with some district volunteer positions. Bart Hauser has
agreed to chair the Family Friends of Scouting Campaign and
Michelle Campbell has agreed to chair the District Dinner.
Please join me in thanking both of them for their commitment.
Roundtable & Training
Words
Roundtables are a great way
to get more trainings, meet other scouters, get the most current
information, and have some laughs. If you are a unit leader,
and have never been to a roundtable event, you should come and
join us. Normal starting time is set for 7:30 pm. If you have
other questions you may have on roundtables, please contact
Scott Harvey
Trainings are set to begin
at 6:00pm at the same location as roundtable. March 1st
will feature New Leaders Essentials. Training questions can be
directed to Mark Salmen (651)436-5842.
Families Support
Scouting
Our district is moving along
nicely with reaching our district goal of $91,000. If all units
can do their initial presentation, turn in the funds, and do a
follow-up, then this will make our goal a bit closer. Finally,
they can do a “sweep” by asking all prospects, even if they are
no longer in the unit but support Scouting, for their gifts or
renewal. If we follow this plan, then our district will
definitely have a good opportunity to reach our district goal
Thank you for supporting Scouting, and please call Bart Hauser
(651)730-4465 for any questions or assistance.
Webelos
Seamless Transition
Again this year, Webelos
II’s have the opportunity to transition into Boy Scouts for
$1.00. To ensure this takes place, applications must be in the
office by March 15th. If you wait too long it will
cost $10.00 to transition the Webelos. Any questions please
call Nick Harmon.
Pack Rechartering
By now, all packs should
have logged in the re-chartering system, and finished their
initial paperwork. All recharters are due at RT on Thursday,
March 6th. In order for units to get their rosters, they will
need their internet advancement unit ID, which one can get by
calling 651-254-9156, Maggie Knuteson, or Nick at
(651)254-9118. You then use the current roster from the
internet advancement to easily complete the online rechartering.
Spring Cub Recruitment
Its time to recruit those
youth who are interested in the outdoors and helping the
community. One way to get them excited about doing outdoor
events in the late spring or summer is to recruit them to your
unit now. The council has support materials such as flyers to
help in your efforts. You might get a brand new good leader
from a new youth recruited, so please make every effort to do
some type of spring recruitment. Call Marty Chalupa if you have
ideas or need assistance.
Centennial Award
You have heard some new
updates on this neat award, and hopefully you have set
achievable goals for this year. Thanks to all units who have
met with a unit commissioner, Assistant District Commissioner,
Commissioner, or another person from the district to discuss
your unit’s plan for continuing or improving your unit’s
programming and growth. Contact Maggie for all your questions
on this.
District Dinner
Mark your calendar for April
18th for our exciting District Dinner. We will be
recognizing outstanding people in our district for this event.
There will be food, fun, and festivities too. See you there and
